Shared Treasures Thrift Store Is Closed
Posted on March 01, 2019 by
It is with a very heavy heart that we announce that we have made the decision to close our SHARE’d Treasures Thrift Store.
Our staff and the volunteers have been working extremely hard. They have been tenacious and creative in their efforts and this decision in no way reflects a short-coming on their part. The unfortunate reality is that the rising expenses associated with running the store cannot be reasonably offset by our sales.
The Thrift Store is SHARE’s most direct link to our founding in 1972, and it has been an important source of employment, volunteer experience, reasonably priced goods and recycling of goods in the Tri-Cities for decades. The store staff represent some of SHARE’s longest-serving employees. Closing a page with so much history is difficult, but it is necessary.
As a result:
- Effective immediately the store will no longer be accepting donations of items for sale;
- We anticipate the store will remain open until March. Information about a closing sale will be provided in the coming weeks; and
- Volunteers are still needed and appreciated for the process of decommissioning the store.
Thank you to our many donors, customers and volunteers. Your contributions have been greatly appreciated.
